Longtime NFL executive Tom Heckert has left the Broncos to focus on his health, Mike Klis of Denver’s 9News reports.

The senior personnel advisor’s contract expired, leaving Gary Kubiak alone in that role.

I saw this firsthand last week, when Gerry Cheevers Authentic Jersey Lester beat the Dodgers, throwing seven scoreless innings in a 4-0 Cubs win. Lester struck out just one of the 28 batters he faced, but got outs, aided by a dynamic defense that made four plays I underlined in my scorebook. Trust me, I’m stingy with those underlines. Before that, the most batters Lester had ever faced in a start with zero or one strikeouts was 26. He’s now had 12 career starts with that many (or fewer) whiffs. In the other 11, his ERA is 11.06.

Here’s the thing: None of this is news to Lester, which makes his comments after that outing against the Dodgers so interesting. The questions were in a news-conference setting.

JON LESTER: It wasn’t exactly ideal on my end, with pitching. Really didn’t have much today and kind of grinded through that one. The defense, they’ve been picking us up all year. It’s kind of like, here, I don’t have anything, so just hit it and hopefully those guys will run it down and catch it.

He’s making the right decision, Avril told Brian Custer and Brady Quinn. No one wants to leave the game on someone else’s terms, I guess, in a sense. But at the same time, your health is way more important than any of this stuff. What good does it do for you to play this game for a long time, make a lot of money, but then at the end of it, you can’t enjoy it? So for him, I think that’s the approach he’s taking right now and I can appreciate that, where he’s at with that.

He’s going to continue to do great things, I believe. But him leaving the game right now, unfortunately it’s too early, but he’s a heck of a ball player and everybody will definitely remember him.

Avril called Chancellor one of the hardest-hitting players I’ve ever been around.

Chancellor turned 30 in April. Avril turned 32 in April.

It’s too early for Louis Williams Jersey L.A., George told Sports Illustrated before the season. It would have to be a situation where the ball gets rolling and guys are hopping on. This guy commits, that guy commits. ‘Oh s—, now there’s a team forming.’ It has to be like that.
