The Redskins say general manager Scot McCloughan will return to the team, although no date or timeframe has been given.
McCloughan, who is not attending the NFL Combine, has been dealing with a family issue. Team president Bruce Allen gave no indication McCloughan’s position is in jeopardy after a report said McCloughan was asked to leave the team.
“Scot’s a great guy. Anyone who knows him knows he’s a great guy,” Allen told a Nashville radio show (via ESPN). “He’s dealing with some family matters now. His grandmother died a week or so ago. So he’s dealing with that right now.”
McCloughan, 46, refuted the report as well. His battle with alcohol addiction in the past has been widely reported. Former tight end Chris Cooley raised eyebrows recently on ESPN Radio by asking “Is he drinking again?”
Clement is hoping to add to the recent success of former teammates James White, who has won two Super Bowl titles in three years with the Patriots, and Melvin Gordon, who came up 3 yards shy of 1,000 in his second season with the Chargers despite missing three games because of a late-season hip injury. Gordon found the end zone 10 times and played in his first Pro Bowl.
“Those guys … definitely helped me along the way,” Clement said. “What they taught me the Cheap Authentic Hockey Jerseys most is to just stay in the moment, make sure you’re learning your playbook and be ready Cheap Atlanta Braves Jerseys when your name is called and don’t flinch. You always want to be the one to be counted on.”
